Press [FUNC] + [YES/SAVE] to save a Pattern, which contains the sequencer data for a single song section; Sounds are individual samples with parameter settings, saved independently; a Project contains all Patterns, Sounds, Kits, and Global settings.
How do I quickly copy and paste a step in the sequencer on the Digitakt MKII?
Hold the step you want to copy, then press and hold the step where you want to paste the sequence data. Release both buttons to duplicate the selected step.
