Common Novation MiniNova Questions
How do I sync the MiniNova's arpeggiator and sequencer to an external MIDI clock source like my DAW?
Connect the MiniNova to your computer via USB or MIDI cable and set the 'Clock Source' in the Global Settings menu to 'External'. Use a USB cable to also send the audio into a DAW.
Where are my sounds saved? How do I backup or load presets/patches from my computer?
Sounds are stored in banks (User, Factory) within the MiniNova's memory. Use the Novation Librarian software (available on Novation's website) to backup, organize, and transfer patches to/from your computer.
How do I use the Vocoder on the MiniNova?
Connect a microphone to the rear panel input, select a patch with vocoder enabled (many factory patches are already set up), and speak into the microphone while playing notes on the keyboard. Adjust the 'Carrier' and 'Modulator' levels for desired effects.
My MiniNova is making a strange buzzing or crackling noise, especially when I play multiple notes. What could be the issue?
This could be due to the polyphony limit being reached (the MiniNova is 18-voice polyphonic). Try reducing the number of notes played simultaneously or simplifying the patches by removing unison or overly complex effects to reduce the CPU load.
What is the 'Animate' feature and how can I use it to create interesting sounds?
The 'Animate' buttons allow you to instantly recall up to 8 different parameter snapshots (modifications) of your current sound, turning a knob and pressing an Animate button stores the current value, allowing for instant changes while performing.
